Wild About Reading
Students in kindergarten are invited to participate in our 2024-2025 Wild About Reading library program by reading every day at home. Students can earn a reading medal that they will wear with their cap and gown at kindergarten graduation ceremonies! Students will earn a free book for each reading log they turn in as well!
Students and parents read together to participate. You can read books, magazines, online articles, e-books, story apps, etc. Any reading counts! As you read each night record the titles of the materials read at home on your child's “Wild About Reading” reading log. Reading logs will be sent home each month in your child's folder and can also be found here online. Record titles read by either you, a family member, or your child, it all counts! You may also record the same title more than once if you read it for several days in a row.
At the end of each month, return the completed reading log to your child's teacher. The reading log must be filled out and turned in in order for your child to receive credit for each month.
Students that achieve a total of 80, 100 or 120 titles for the year will earn a medal as listed below. It only takes a minimum of 4 completed reading logs for the year so every child can earn a medal with your help!
Kindergarten Reading Medals
BRONZE Medal - Student logged 80-99 titles
SILVER Medal - Student logged 100-119 titles
GOLD Medal - Student logged 120 or more titles
To complete a “Wild About Reading” reading log, students must read a minimum of 20 days during the month. Be sure to keep reading each day (including school holidays and vacation weeks) to be able to complete your form by the deadline each month.
