February may be a short month but it was not short on fun and learning! We learned all about the Chinese New Year including customs and traditions. We made lanterns and every student got to add a section to our library dragon that stretched almost all the way around the whole library!
In January we learned about animals that hibernate and had fun with our winter centers! We built caves for bears during makerspace time! It was a fun month here in the Cravens Library.
December was a quick but fun month in the library. We worked on letter recognition and sight words with our Christmas centers and we even participated in the Hour of Code by using coding apps like Box Island and Scratch Jr.
We had a lot of fun in the library in November! We learned about Thanksgiving and had fun with our Turkey Centers! We built traps to catch a turkey, built a shelter to hide a turkey, and practiced our letter recognition and counting with turkey themed stations. It was a gobble, gobble good time!
October was a very fun filled month in the library. We worked on centers with a Halloween/Fall Theme including our spider counting book, an alphabet matching game, a STEM challenge where we had to build a spider web, and a counting/number recognition activity. We also had our first book fair of the year that was a big success. Thanks to all the parents and students that came out to support our campus and bought new books!
September was a busy month in the library. We learned how to take care of books and to treat them with love. Kindergarten learned how to use a shelf marker when browsing for books and began to check out books! We also celebrated International Dot Day by reading The Dot by Peter Reynolds and making our own dots! We had a great time!
The 2019-2020 school year is coming soon and we have lots of fun and exciting things happening in the library. This year we will continue our makerspace activities as well as learning to code with iPads, robots, and more! We will enjoy storytime every week and participate in lots of fun events such as International Dot Day and Hour of Code! I can't wait to see all our Cravens Cubs back at school and in the library. See you soon!
